Royal Bloods Progression and Opinions on the New Songs

Image
Hello, fellow Rockers and Metalheads! It's been one hell of a semester at school and I can finally catch up on some of this new Royal Blood. "Lights Out" and "Hook, Line, and Sinker" bring back that first album feel with a twist. I think both songs are reminiscent of "Ten Tonne Skeleton" with the harmonizing of the lyrics with Mike Kerr's guitar like bass playing. This man makes me want to pick up a bass and jam like I do on my guitar. After the first time I listen to each new Royal Blood song, my mind plays the trick that the bass is a guitar. Props to Mike and Ben for confusing me every time I hear their songs. I'd like to make a comparison to another famous band they are beginning to look like, The White Stripes. This duo from England reminds me of the other duo from Detroit due to not only being a duo but their sound, their grit, their compassion for music and bringing that compassion to the fans every new song. They provide something diffe

AVATAR: The Next Breakthrough Band?

Hello, fellow Rockers and Metal Heads! Today I bring a special announcement from Gothenburg, Sweden. I have seen these guys twice, and they are coming out with a new album called Feathers and Flesh on May 13th, 2016. From what I have heard, they seem to deviate from their earlier albums. With each new album, they seem to turn to a different route, and it's amazing to see what will happen next with this band. The look of bands like KISS, and Marilyn Manson, and the feel of Slipknot mixed with a whammy bar on steroids. Both times I have seen them live, they put it all out on the stage and kick some ass. Once at Sonic Boom, and once at Taste of Madison, they were one of if not my favorite bands at both concert/festival settings. I easily became drawn to "Bloody Angel." This song just has everything a metal lover would want, a breakdown, a catchy intro, the lyrics to make you shiver, and the guitar to make you want to headbang until your neck snaps. I think with some of these

New Volbeat Single: The Devil's Bleeding Crown

Welcome back! I know I took awhile but school and other things came up and I'm looking to come back strong and bring some more news and reviews. First off, the Danish Rockband, some of the hardest working guys I've ever seen live, Volbeat. Their highly anticipated sixth album, Seal the Deal & Let's Boogie , will be in stores June 3rd. Let's just say I am lucky enough to see Volbeat, Avenged Sevenfold, and the gods called METALLICA in August at the new Vikings stadium. It's a shame they have to play in a stadium that looks like a Sandcrawler from Star Wars, but it's going to be worth it. Finally, let's move on to what I think of the song. It's a very catchy intro, and hell, it has me jumping up and down in my seat as I listen to it. In typical Volbeat fashion, I can't understand a damn thing they're saying in the song, and thankfully they released a music video for it with the lyrics. Personally, I don't think it's their bread and but

Muse Live at the United Center January 13th, 2016

As I sip on my coffee, reviewing the amazing night I had last night, I can finally say I can die happy. Muse is the greatest live band I have ever seen live. The lights, the props, the drone flying around, the video projections. All these things contributed to the night I had last night. From the setlists I have seen from shows in the past month, it stayed the same mostly, except for a couple of gems I thought were amazing to hear live (I will post a whole set list of the concert down below). There were some songs, I thought, for sure they wouldn't pull out in concert due to them being long, or just not as popular as say Stockholm Syndrome, or Plug in Baby, both of which they did not play. The surprises on this setlist were Map of the Problematique, Resistance, Undisclosed Desires, and The Globalist. Map of the Problematique, in my opinion, is one of the most underrated Muse songs out there. For them to pull this gem off of Black Holes and Revelations was a treat to hear. Once th

A Tribute to David Bowie

I recently started listening to David Bowie again, sadly after it was too late. His last release, "Lazarus," showed the pain he was in towards the end of his life. After having cancer, and 6 heart as reported, he was still writing arguably, his best music month's before he passed away. It seems that Bowie knew he might pass away soon when writing this song. He says in "Lazarus," "Look up here, I'm in heaven, I've got scars, that can't be seen." He is battling cancer, and he is showing his pain in the way he knew how to, by writing music for his fans. I don't think "Lazarus" and "Blackstar" are for the money, but for the fans to show how he felt through the last months of his life. The turmoil Bowie induced from cancer, as he slowly fades away into the closet, just like his coffin. Bowie will forever be remembered for bringing the "glam" back into "glam rock," but he will also be remembered for

Introduction to Hit the Deck!

Hello! My name is Brendan, I am a music enthusiast from Madison, Wisconsin. Music has had a special place in my heart since a young age. My father showed me my favorite band of all time, The Beatles when I was 3. I remember dancing with him to "Imagine", by John Lennon, and this image has never left my mind, and it reminds me, of who I am today. Enough about me, though, more about why you might be here. My goal is to present local music and present my opinions on future albums, bands, and drama. I will cover rock, hard rock, metal, metalcore, whatever strikes my interest, nd the interests of everyone else. Welcome to the family! Brendan C.
